Just in time for summer… How to have a healthy, effective and safe weight loss program

Everyone wants to look slimmer and fit for summer, but what is the best way to accomplish this goal?

 

A two element plan is key to a successful weight loss program:  Proper exercise and proper dietary habits.

 

  1. The first element is proper exercise. Exercising for long hours is not necessarily an effective exercise routine. A recent study compared participants who did steady-state cardio for 30 minutes,  three times a week to those who did 20 minutes of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT),  three times per week.  Both groups showed similar weight loss, but the HIIT group showed a 2% loss in body fat while the steady-state group lost only 0.3%.  The HIIT group also gained nearly 2 lbs of muscle, while the steady-state group lost almost one pound. Therefore, the most effective exercise plan to look good for summer and achieve a solid level of fitness is HIIT.  This process will help to obtain the goal of long term weight loss and positive body sculpting beauty.

 

  1. The second element is to incorporate the proper dietary habits for a long-term healthy lifestyle. Many people eat too many complex carbohydrates which converts to excess fat storage.  Each person is born with fat cells, but without the proper diet and exercise, additional fat cells may be produced enabling additional fat storage capacity in the body.  Over time, this can lead to a less desirable body shape. A low carb and high protein diet plan that is sustainable for the long term will lead to long term health.  A simple way to look at healthy is to go to the grocery store and look for food that does not have a label (i.e. fruits, vegetables etc.).  These have no regulatory labels or preservatives and are, in general, healthy.  Eating more of these types of foods will provide a foundation for health.
